Intro to Animal handling - gritAnimal

The entry point to get some general info about our gritAnimal application

Introduction

gritAnimal is a software tool to track requisition and use of lab animals. Focus is on storing data to ensure the reporting to the authorities is easy while the tool still is easy to use and offers helpful features.

The application has three major areas:

  • License management. Register licenses and quotas, which the application uses to give warnings to users when for example purchasing new animals would break the limit specified by a quota.
    • Ordering. Tools for keeping track of orders to external suppliers.
  • Use of animals. Tools for keeping track of individual animals and their use during their lifetime.

Security control

In addition to the basic security measures provided by the grit42 platform, gritAnimal has three different roles defined. Any one of them give access to gritAnimal

  • AnimalCare - Allows for order processing and extended rights to move and sacrifice animals.
  • Veterinarians - Allows for defining licenses and quotas, and approving new study templates.
  • AnimateUser - Allows for creating study template proposals, creating studies and handling a user's own animals.

Dashboard
