Adding annotations to projects

This will show you how to add text annotations to compounds, Setups or results in the project overviews

Annotations

Annotations can be used to link comments, requests among other things to Compounds, Setups, or Setup Parameters. Annotated cells show a mark in the top right corner, and hovering this mark will display the annotations.

Adding annotations

Annotations can be managed from the detailed view of a cell, either a Result cell for Setup and Setup Parameter Annotation, or a Compound Property cell for Compound Annotation.

Annotation Types and Statuses

Annotation Types and Statuses serve an organisational purpose.

The following Annotation Types are available by default:

  • Comment
  • Conclusion
  • Question
  • Request

The following Annotation Statuses are available by default:

  • Active
  • Inactive
  • Closed

Note (Admin):Additional Annotation Types and Statuses can be created under the “Data Import” > “ProjectAnnotationType” and “ProjectAnnotationStatus” respectively, as described in "Import data into the lookup tables" page.

Annotating Compounds

  1. Open the Compound details view by clicking a Compound Property cell in the Project grid or via the Compounds configuration
  2. Click the “+” icon to the right of the Annotation field
  3. In the dialog, configure the Annotation and click “Add”

Compound Annotations are displayed on all Compound Property cells of the selected Compound.

Annotating Setups and Results

  1. Open the Result details view by clicking a Result cell in the Project grid
  2. Click the “+” icon to the right of the Annotation field
  3. In the dialog, configure the Annotation and click “Add”
    1. Annotation target: specify whether this annotation applies to the Setup or the current Setup Parameter

Setup Annotations are displayed on all Result cells of the selected Compound and Setup, Setup Parameter annotations are displayed only in the Result cell of the selected Compound.

Annotation order

The order in which Annotations are displayed can be controlled using the Sort property of the Annotation. The Annotations will be sorted according to the value of their Sort property in ascending order, and their update time.

Filtering annotations

Annotations can be filtered by clicking the “Annotation filters” button above the Project grid. The filters work as described in Filtering.

When filtering Annotations, only the Annotations are filtered and the data in the grid remains unchanged.
